A chic and country hotel at the gateway to
Angers in Maine et Loire
What if you were to stop for a night or weekend, to enjoy the tranquillity of a remarkable hotel in Angers?
The hubbub of the town, the rumbling of the bypass and the clinking of the tram reverberate a few hundred metres away. Yet here, in this magnificent hotel in Angers, chirping welcomes you at the Slow Village Château des Forges hotel, within a 6-hectare green setting.
On the watershed which overlooks the Mayenne river and the Ile Saint Aubin, the Château des Forges château enjoys a unique panoramic view over the Lower Valleys of Anjou, to the north of Angers. With its vast park and remarkably preserved outbuildings, it is rare landscaped and architectural evidence of the 19th century Anjou holiday destination.
This second home was built in 1862 for an Anjou manufacturer and mill owner, Germain Bouyonnet-Belize, related to the large Oriolle family. Its “chalet” appearance in brick and stone is similar to coastal architecture with its gables, bow windows, balconies and colour schemes, which successive owners were able to preserve.
